On June 12, Opel/Vauxhall and 4flow were announced as winners in the Better Visibility category at the awards ceremony in Bonn, Germany.
The judges felt the Opel/Vauxhall and 4flow solution showed remarkable results, calling it “A long term partnership that is clearly focused on real transparency, partnership and sharing responsibility.” Judges were impressed with the development and implementation of the Transportation Control Centre (TCC), a tailored suite of transport optimization solutions and IT that has eliminated supply chain fragmentation in Opel/Vauxhall’s network and resulted in total visibility, efficient communications and materials traceability along the entire supply chain. To improve end-to-end visibility in its aftersales supply chain network, leading European OEM Opel/Vauxhall opted for an ongoing, long-term collaboration with 4PL service provider 4flow in 2011.
The TCC is a robust platform comprised of IT solutions such as a transportation management system, container management system, transportation analytics, and 4flow vista® integrated supply chain software for strategic and tactical network planning, as well as a number of related measures for process optimization. Using the power of the TCC, the Opel/Vauxhall and 4flow partnership has achieved full visibility of transport flows throughout the entire Opel/Vauxhall European aftersales network and realized significant and sustainable savings in annual freight costs.
Owing to the flexibility of the TCC, Opel/Vauxhall can respond to changes in market conditions, corporate network structures and more, while continuing to benefit from the program’s efficiencies, visibility improvements and cost-savings for years to come.
The judges of the Automotive Logistics Awards Europe include some of the top supply chain experts from AGCO, BMW Group, Continental, Groupe PSA, Magna International, Volvo Car Group, and others.
