In the spotlight

“At 4flow, we live and breathe a culture of mutual support.”

Ina, Project Manager in Dresden, 4flow consulting

Ina has been with 4flow for almost two years and works as a project manager in the SAP EWM division. In this interview, she talks about her experiences as a project manager, the importance of a supportive corporate culture, and balancing work and family life.

How did you come to your current position?
I studied mathematics and also attended lectures in logistics because I was already interested in the subject at the time. After graduating, I started a job as an SAP EWM consultant and worked my way up to project manager. When I came to 4flow, I wanted to take on more responsibility and get more involved in team leadership and team development while continuing to work on projects in warehouse management.

What do you find particularly interesting about warehouse management?
I am fascinated by the complexity, especially in projects that involve automation. Every project brings new challenges, and it’s exciting for me to work with customers and teams to develop really good solutions. But above all, I enjoy working as a project manager.

That sounds exciting. What does your everyday work as a project manager look like?
A large part of my job is to mediate between the team and the customer. I adapt our planning to new circumstances, ensure team cohesion and make sure that communication with the customer is smooth. My goal is to create an environment in which my project team can work happily and without disruption. I want everyone to feel seen and be able to give their best. I know from my own experience that it can be challenging, especially as a woman in IT, because you are often outnumbered.

What advice would you give to other women in IT and supply chain consulting?
My most important tip is: Be confident! It is important to have the confidence to take on responsibility and also to address critical issues and ask questions of a client. At the same time, you shouldn't be afraid to ask for support and learn from others. At 4flow, we live and breathe a culture of mutual support.

What do you appreciate in particular about the corporate culture at 4flow?
Right from the start, I was impressed by the professional and people-oriented onboarding process. The accessibility and support within the company, as well as the open and friendly feedback, are great. There is a willingness to address criticism constructively. What I also really appreciate is the flexibility that allows me to balance career and family (I have four children).

What does work-life balance mean for you?
I really appreciate remote work and flexible working hours, which let me balance my work and family life well. It's a challenge, but with the right support and an understanding employer, it's possible. It's also important to allow yourself free time after work and on weekends.

And what helps you relax in your everyday life?
I go for walks and listen to audiobooks. I also enjoy baking – it helps me clear my head, and I love the smell. My perfect day off includes sleeping in, followed by breakfast with friends, outdoor activities with my family and a barbecue in the evening.
