Students develop innovative smart logistics concepts
The video highlights show the 4flow challenge 2018
Drones, smart glasses, 3D printing, blockchain and autonomous transportation systems – which technologies are necessary to optimize and future-proof supply chain management? In this year’s 4flow challenge case study competition, international students developed solutions for the challenges posed by supply chain digitization. Taking on the role of supply chain consultants, the participants used a realistic case study to create smart logistics concepts. As in the previous two years, numerous teams from Germany and abroad applied to participate in the 2018 competition.
4flow invited the top six teams from the first two rounds to the finals, held over the course of two days at 4flow’s headquarters in Berlin, Germany. The participants arrived to find insights into the 4flow company culture and the day-to-day lives of supply chain consultants – in addition to a supply chain scavenger hunt. During the competition, the finalists were under additional pressure to complete supplemental tasks in workshops within the allotted time. The teams then presented their results to a panel of expert judges consisting of experienced 4flow consultants. In their evaluations, the judges focused on the technical content of the finalists’ solutions and the presentation and communication abilities of the participants.
The first place team, Jovel4 Consulting of the Münster University of Applied Sciences, was the clear winner in every evaluation category. They also impressed the judges with their strong sense of team spirit. For their exceptional performance, Jovel4 Consulting was awarded €4,000 in prize money. Second place and €2,000 went to the team from Tilburg University, located in the Netherlands. Third place was shared by two equally matched teams that each received €1,000 in prize money: Generation Y of Jacobs University Bremen and F[h]our Münster – another team from the Münster University of Applied Sciences. The professors who assisted the winning teams in developing their concepts received additional prize money for their respective departments. 4flow would like to congratulate the competition winners and thank all the participants for their ambition, commitment, and innovative supply chain solutions.
